As we wrap up another year, we've been reflecting on 2024 and all it’s brought. Honestly, where did the time go?! It’s been a year full of growth, learning and new experiences, and we feel so grateful for all of it. As we reflect on how far we’ve come since we started this journey in 2018, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for your support, your trust in us, and for being such an important part of everything we’ve accomplished. You’re really at the heart of everything we do.
We thought it might be nice to take a little stroll down memory lane and share some of the highlights from this year, some of the milestones, the new faces, and the moments that really stood out. Here’s a little look back at what made 2024 one for the books.
Over 150 New Products
From start to finish, 2024 was packed with new product launches. This year, we set out to expand our range with products that would make your at-home gel nail experience better than ever. We’re so happy to have released over 150 new products, all designed with you in mind. A huge thanks to our amazing team for making it all happen!
Years in the making, the release that takes the cake was our E-File Pen and Drill Bits. This launch has been nothing short of a total game-changer for so many of your nail routines, and it’s been so exciting to be part of the huge difference it’s made for you. Another standout was our Milky Pink Builder Gel, known for its clean, chic finish that quickly became a fan favourite. We also introduced the Silicone Nail Stamper which completely changed the French tip game, it’s the secret weapon all of us at Gelous HQ (and so many of you!) use to get perfect Frenchies every time. Other highlights include our Anti-UV Gloves, Travel Gel Nail Lamp, Chrome Powders, and, of course, lots of new Gel Polishes to add to your collection.
Based on your feedback, we also made our bundles fully customisable, and to wrap it all up, we launched our very first Advent Calendar. Packed with 12 exclusive, full-sized gel goodies. It was such a fun and festive way to share the holidays with you, and we were over the moon seeing how much you loved it.
We’ve poured so much love into each new product this year, and it brings us so much happiness to see you experience all the little (and big) ways they’re making your nail routines even better!
Releasing Pink for a Cure (In Support of BFCNZ)
This year, we were so excited to release our first-ever charity polish ‘Pink for a Cure’, in support of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. A bright pink polish with a purpose, Pink for a Cure was inspired by the iconic pink ribbon that we all know and love as a symbol of strength. Released during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we pledged to donate $10 from every bottle sold, and thanks to your incredible support, we donated $3,370 to this amazing cause.
It was really special to see how much love you had for Pink for a Cure, and we can’t thank you enough for getting behind this cause. While Pink for a Cure has now taken its final bow, it’s important the conversation about breast health doesn’t stop here. Record Charity Donations
Giving back is something that’s always been a core part of what we do, and 2024 was no exception. Since early in our journey, we’ve partnered with Life Matters Charity, matching every donation you make at checkout. Together, in 2024, we’ve so far donated $5,882, bringing our total donations to nearly $20,000. This cause holds a special place in our hearts. The Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust provides critical support and resources for those facing mental health challenges, navigating a difficult system, or lacking the support they need. It’s been wonderful to see how much this life-changing charity means to you too.
Building on this, we took a step forward this year by extending our charity initiative to Australia. Partnering with Suicide Prevention Pathways in August, we’ve since donated $1278 to support their vital work, helping our Australian neighbours in need.
During Pride Month, we redirected our focus to OutLine NZ, an amazing organisation for rainbow communities. With your generosity we donated $323.72, supporting the great work they do for so many people.
Your support has made all of this possible. Knowing that together we’ve been able to help make a difference is something we hold close to our hearts.
Launching The Gelous It List Loyalty Program
Another huge highlight this year was the launch of The Gelous It List, our very own loyalty program! After hearing so much feedback from you, we were so excited to finally make it happen in 2024. Since bringing The Gelous It List to life in November, it’s been amazing to see so many of you jumping on board, climbing the ranks and enjoying the rewards. Haven’t joined yet? Reaching a Facebook Community Milestone
One of the most special moments of 2024 was watching our Gelous Gel Nail Polish Facebook Community grow to 10,000 members! It’s been incredible to see this space blossom into such a positive, supportive hub where you all can connect, share your manicures, ask questions, and offer inspiration. We’ve loved seeing everyone come together and make this space feel like a true community. If you’re not part of it yet, come on in! Team Growth
As Gelous continues to grow, so does our team. This year, we welcomed three talented new faces who have already made a big impact on our business. We’ve been so lucky to bring on board Rachael, our General Manager, Donna, our Operations Manager, and Hannah, our Graphic Designer & Marketing Assistant. They’ve each brought fresh perspectives, new ideas, and a lot of energy to our incredible team. With a team like ours, we know the best is yet to come!
Awards and Recognition
We were honoured to once again be recognised at the North Harbour Business Awards, where we won the Excellence in Medium Business Award for the second consecutive year! This was one of the standout moments of 2024, for sure. We’re so proud of how far we’ve come and couldn’t have done it without the support of all of you, our incredible customers, and the hard work and dedication of our team. As always, thank you for making all this possible.
2024’s End of Year Celebration
One of the biggest highlights of the year, every year—the Gelous Christmas Party never disappoints. For the first time, our full-time Australian staff flew over to join us, and it was such a special day spent with our whole team. We kicked off the festivities with Secret Santa, followed by cake decorating with Baby Buck Baking, and wrapped things up with drinks, dinner, and a comedy show. It was the perfect way to support local businesses while celebrating the year that was. We couldn’t have asked for a better finish to 2024 with Team Gelous.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we turn our sights to the year ahead, we’ve got so much in store for 2025. There are so many exciting plans in the works we can’t wait to share, like more product launches, tonnes of new learning resources, and an expanded Australian warehouse. We can’t wait to share everything we’ve been working on soon! As always, your feedback is key to making it all happen.
